We stopped by for an overnight visit using harvest host and the couple who take care of this place were amazing. They gave us a tour after hours and were so nice this place was amazing to visit highly recommended

Nice little museum and roadside attraction. Missed the buildings being open because we got there late in the day. We were able to spend the night because they are a Harvest Host location.

Wonderful Harvest Hosts! Picturesque and Fascinating History.

We spent a night here in our RV with our little family and it couldn’t have been more wonderful! Ken and his wife were so welcoming and sweet, letting us wander the property after hours and taking us for a tour of the museum in the morning. The landscape was so picturesque! We were surrounded by rolling fields of corn, friendly cows on the south side, wildflowers galore, and charming little old buildings dotting the property. Our little boys had a lot of fun exploring with us, running around in the grass, and playing on the cute old fashioned rocking horses outside.

Thank you to the Cruzes for the lovely stay and showing us around the museum! We will definitely come again when we’re back in Minnesota and tell all of our friends!

We were passing thru on our way to the Bad Lands. Camped overnight. This is another small town gem and is well worth an hour or three. The focus is on pioneer living with a church, sod house, small fort, blacksmith, etc. The museum has lots to offer. The staff gave us and another couple a private 1-hour tour. This was informative and mush appreciated.

We stayed here overnight as part of the Harvest Host RV program. The next day we toured historic Fort Belmont with Doug as our expert guide. I liked his enthusiasm and knowledge about life in the Dakotas during the Dakota Uprising. I enjoyed the historic cars inside the museum. I also enjoyed the military display case with uniforms and memorabilia from WWI and WW2. The church building's history was fascinating to me. The fort restoration impressed me. Overall, I enjoyed my walk through history at Fort Belmont. Well done!

We really enjoyed stopping here. The items inside were really interesting and filled a large building. Outside was an old house and really nice church plus an old fort, sod house, and other really great buildings. Located with items from days gone bye.

Nice little museum and a great recreation of the fort as well as old houses. Fort Belmont was a civilian fort built by 11 Norwegian families. They survived a massacre in 1857 and the Dakota uprising in 1862. The families then lived in the stockade for 2 years. There was also a sod house, a museum, a blacksmith shop, a mill, a Lutheran church built by Norwegian immigrants in 1883 , and the house of Norwegian inmigrants Andrew Olsen and Mary Lysgard (1870).
