Do not go to SU Health Clinic at the Barnes Center if you have a serious medical emergency. I got my foot run over by an SUV automobile right on campus, next to College Place. I somehow booked the earliest appointment I could get, thinking they can at least take a look at my injuries maybe some x-rays or something. I got myself to the Health Clinic somehow and first thing they had me doing was filling out all these forms. I completed everything by the time it was time for my appointment. Next thing I know, I am being called to the reception desk to be told that they got a notification from the Nurse Practitioner that she refuses to see me because I have an automobile related injury, and the Barnes Center does not care for anyone who sustains an automobile or work-related injury. They turned me away and told me that I have to go to the Crouse ER or urgent care (please avoid WellNow for serious injuries; they don't have doctors). The student receptionists were empathetic to my situation, but I didn't expect the NP to be like this, waiting for me to come all the way to the clinic in severe pain, only to deny care after I submitted their numerous check-in forms. They should put at the beginning of the Patient Portal as a disclaimer that they "Do Not Care for Automobile or Work Related Injuries". Then I wouldn't have bothered making an appointment here and I certainly would not have limped in pain to come here, only to be rejected care. This is highly unprofessional of Barnes Health Clinic and they do not care for their injured students. It's unprofessional, and quite insulting actually.

I’ve been using the health center at SU for more than 2 years now and all the staff were always friendly and on time. I honestly can’t remember a single time I saw them chatting instead of working.

Also the “female staff can’t stop chatting” is a pretty sexist comment. Some moderator should be paying attention to this kind of comment here.

Refused to take me an hour before my appointment time despite the fact my teacher let me out of class early. Took some blood and tested me for flu and mono, and told me I was negative on both. Went to crouse right after, and tested positive for mono. How could they miss it? Even after taking my blood? Never go there

Awesome people! Did all my tests at the time of admission. Kept all my records safe. And 6 years later when I needed them, provided me all of that via fax in a minute’s notice. Can’t ask for more. Makes me proud to be a Syracuse Alumni ?‍?

Nice place with friendly people. Always carry your SU ID and Insurance card before going there. Have a appointment created for you before walking in. Generally, walk-ins will not be accepted.

Didn’t get tested for flu, and six days later I went to Urgent Care. I tested positive for flu, and they said I had it the entire time.

Told me I tested negative for strep, and I tested positive elsewhere. Expect you to make "reservations" days in advance.

Always busy. Have insurance and SU ID and make an appointment. If you have serious medical issues, please go to Upstate. Usually only one doctor on staff.
