I recently tried to rent from Higgins. When I called I was told they only had 1 three bedroom and we set up a viewing. Everything was going great at that point. We'll after the viewing i thought of questions I needed to ask. They seemed to get irritated that I called back with questions. Also they couldn't answer basic questions like what school district or who power company was. According to application I had to have a 650 credit score, well they said I didn't. When I questioned what my score was, because I had previously ran it myself, they told me legally they couldn't give me that information. I then spoke directly with Don and explained my situation. He kept getting hung up on the fact that I have a 5 year old. Was asking me if a house would t be a better situation. Everything I began to talk about something else he would come back to the fact that I have a small child. He said he'd rerun the numbers himself and get back with me. Well I had to call them back, and was told my score wasn't high enough. I then called them out stating I know my score was high enough because I had it ran personally. She then began to change the story and admitted that while my score was high enough they look at 3 different things and avamerage them. She said my average wasn't high enough. When I again questioned how they came up with the average, she said legally she couldn't divulge that information. I don't usually put negative reviews out but I feel the reason they refused to rent to .e was because I have a small child and no other adult in the household.

I rented from Higgins realty for a year or so. I enjoyed my apartment and the location was awesome. It was affordable as well. Come to find out after the hurricane that came into Georgia I started having a leak in my ceiling. I took pictures and informed Higgins realty of my issue. Days past and nothing happened. I called and told them several times during the month but no one came to fix my issue. Mold started building up in the ceiling in the bathroom where the leak was. I was lucky the dripping from the ceiling dripped right into my toilet otherwise everytime it rained I'd of had a massive mess. The mold got worse and finally I told them if they did not fix it I'd not pay rent. Well they came out and stripped out the ceiling and patched where the leak was in the roof where it was coming from. The problem though was they left my ceiling unfinished! For three months after stuffing, bugs, dust, and rotted wood clippings fell into my bathroom. I started getting a cough and congested from all that was coming in from my ceiling. Since it was a one bed room/one bath my bathroom was connected to the bed room so I couldnt sleep in my own bed room because of the junk falling out. At the beginning I'd of recommended Higgins realty but having had to deal with this issue for a full year has snuffed out any good opinion I may have had for the business. I'm disappointed that things where not handled correctly by the landlords to properly assist in fixing known issues that could have been resolved in just a few days of solid work. Walk carefully when renting from Higgins realty because he may or may not fix your home in a timely mannor. This similar issue of getting things fixed has been an issue for 4 other tenants that spoke to me of the same problem. In short rent at your own risk.

I have had very good experiences renting from Higgins! Our air broke and it was fixed the next day. He worked so well with us when we needed to pay our rent 3 days after due date. I recommend this realty!

These people have got to be the most unprofessional and rudest people I have ever encountered!

A Verification of Employment was sent to the owner, Dean Higgins, to be completed on a past employee. It would have taken about 5 min, at the most, of his(or anyone in the HR office) time to complete. But rather than be professional and politely complete the form and return it, he and his secretary Michelle have gone out of their way to be rude, to stall, and to even lie, just to keep for helping someone trying to purchase a new home for their family.

Some of the lies included...
"I will complete and have it ready tomorrow." - yet, when discussing with the mortgage company rep, they were told they had already sent it back.

"I have already completed and sent it back." - yet nothing was received. So the form was resent. Confirmation of both fax and e-mail sent received showing the Higgins Co did receive the form.

"I gave it to the owner. He will send it as soon as he can get to it.", per Michelle.
When asked who "HE" was, Michelle refused to provide, but then said the "owner", and refused to provide his direct contact number and e-mail, until it was insisted.

Later with another follow up...
"I don't know what you are talking about. I haven't received anything." - Dean Higgins rudely hung up.

Back to discussing with mortgage rep, the e-mail was given, that Michelle reluctantly provided.

Dean Higgins, by not completing the VOE, is interfering with someone obtaining a new home for their family...a family that lost their previous home to the elements of Mother Nature.

This poor excuse of a human being and his staff, particularly his current secretary, aren't worthy of my business or any business I could send their way. Please think hard about doing business with someone with such a cold heart.

Ok so let’s talk Deposits so when you give your deposit your suposed to leave it like you got it well..... not here if you leave it in a better condition you will not get the amount that your suposed to get back. Well when we got there there was black marks all over the walls we scrubbed for hours to try and make it look presentable and so we did looked great after we worked so hard on what was suposed to been done before we got there. Also if you have any probablem at all with the apartment do it your self or it will never get done all the money we put in to the place to take care of it we will never get back but being 90+ days late and also having to go up there just to get the deposit back and come to find out they took more then hafe out to do the floors and pointless stuff that they already have to do to the place. Well if you rent here ask for an apartment that only cost $200 a month that’s all it’s worth!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not rent from these people unless you like to be screwed over! Been renting from them for three years and my pregnant wife is on bed rest the air has been broke for 10 days now an they won't come fix the air!

I tried to view a property that they had listed for rent. They told me I’d have to pay the non refundable application fee before they could show me the townhouse. How do you run a business like that? She couldn’t tell me which unit it was on the property or if it had a back patio either. Wow. You want me to pay to apply for a home I can’t see?
