Joining this fantastic club is simple—just head over to the workshop near Brownwood. Keep in mind, there are membership fees, but trust me, it's worth every penny! Another five star village special woodworking recreation center. You'll likely have a little fee so contact them and they'll let you know how much and all it includes (wood, glues, etc!).

The initial training conducted by the “Director of Certification” and the “Director of Education” consisted of 6 hours of lecture. The almighty Director of Certification arrived with his McDonald’s bag in hand and advised us of the “no lunch” schedule. If you want to use the wood shop then you must complete training—so you will be a captive audience for the VWC leadership to talk and talk and talk….with no breaks. Only in the Army have I witnessed such incredible disrespect for an audience.

At an annual membership of $90.00, two full days of training on how to safely use the equipment, numerous volunteers to go to and ask for help, and the list goes on.
Nearing 100 women gracing the shops with incredible skills, wood carving classes, stained glass classes - the villages woodworkers club has it all. Wow, and wow. Come by and take a tour.

It would be nice if they would offer classes to the general public who are not within their specific requirements of living in the villages. Not a sign of a good community to be only allowing those who live in the villages to join this club. My husband would love to learn woodworking and we live nearby but we are ousted because we are not a resident of the villages. Not very helpful to those who live around the villages. I do not recommend them .

Excellent shop setup, with a variety of stand tools all hooked up to ventilation for sawdust free working. Experienced teacher/coach is very helpful and knowledgeable. Materials are available at the shop for purchase, and the teacher will counsel you on wood choices and level of difficulty of projects you consider.
